An Egyptian fashion model and social media influencer, identified as Salma al-Shimi, was arrested on Monday for allegedly getting photographed in front of the Pyramids in an ‘indecent attire’, reported Indian Express.

According to media reports she was arrested along with her photographer, Houssa Mohammed, soon after she shared images of herself dressed in an ancient Egyptian costume.

Reports also claim that the model was later released on bail.

Her arrest reportedly prompted a social media outrage against the moral policing with users asking if taking pictures is illegal.

However, as per a Gaurdian report, Salma al-Shimi’s detention was just a rumour, circulated on social but the sources only confirmed her photographer’s arrest.
