Real Madrid footballer Karim Benzema is set to make a comeback in France’s national team for the European Championship after staying away from the sport for more than five years, several media houses reported quoting sources on Tuesday.
The french player was expelled by the team manager Didier Deschamps in 2015 after Benzema’s alleged involvement in a sex tape scandal against former team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.

The French daily Le Parisien reported that the Real Madrid forward is likely to make a comeback in the 26-member France national team squad, following his commendable performance this season in the European leagues, scoring 29 goals in all competitions.
Deschamps will name the squad on Tuesday around 1820 GMT. Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Kingsley Coman, Olivier Giroud, Ousmane Dembele, Wissam Ben Yedder and Anthony Martial are likely to feature in the French Euro team.

The European championship, which was delayed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, will start from June 11.
