A gender reveal party in Tennessee triggered an active shooter alert and then lockdown in two schools. This happened after, as per reports, the expecting father shot off his gun in celebration.
On Wednesday afternoon in Rutherford County, three gunshots and screams were heard. A citizen called 911. The gunshots were fired close to multiple schools hence officials put them on lockdown.

However, the lockdown orders at Oakland High and Middle schools were both quickly lifted. The police soon discovered that the gunshots were from the expecting father who found that he was going to have a boy.
“Rumors of an active shooter at local school are incorrect,” the Murfreesboro Police Department posted on Twitter.

“It was found to be expectant parents making a gender revealing phone call to out of county family members. During the phone call the expectant father stepped outside and fired celebratory rounds from a handgun into the air and the expectant mother screamed out of excitement of the news of a baby boy,” the police department reported.

As per media reports, the father was cited with unlawful discharging of a firearm inside the city limits.
In July, 2020, a California couple was charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor counts when their gender reveal party sparked a Southern California wildfire. A similar incident took place in Canada when an an explosive device set off a small wildfire during a gender reveal party in northern Alberta.
