Japan’s Naomi Osaka won the Australian Open on Saturday after defeating Jennifer Brady. After the victory, the 23-year-old said she is living her “dreams” and that she will celebrate her victory with pizza and anime.
Osaka won her fourth Grand Slam title after a comfortable 6-4, 6-3 victory in 77 minutes at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday, becoming only the third player after Monica Seles and Roger Federer to win their first four major finals. With this victory, Osaka will also rise to second on the world rankings.
Following the victory, Osaka said it felt “surreal” and she was “really just living my dreams.”
“I’m always shaking a little bit (at the end). Thank God I had three match points,” she told Channel Nine.
Osaka, however, said that she was not satisfied by the victory.
“I take every tournament seriously. I just want to be consistent and that is my main goal this year,” she said.
Speaking about a low-key celebration post the victory, she said, “I’m probably going to watch some anime… maybe (eat) pizza… and go to sleep.”
