Hove Albion cancelled Leicester City 1-0 lead as the teams played out a 1-1

Brighton had the chance to turn the match around in
the final minutes, but Dan Burn’s header was cleared off the line by Leicester
midfielder Youri Tielemans before keeper Kasper Schmeichel saved a stunning
effort from Leandro Trossard.

Brighton are currently placed ninth with 30 minutes in 22 games while Leicester have 26 points from 20 games.

With Brighton coach Graham Potter and assistant
Billy Reid isolating after contracting COVID-19, first-team coach Bjorn Hamberg
sent on Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey and Leicester City lost their nerve.
Lamptey was a menace on the right and Welbeck could have had more than his
single goal.

“We were pushing for a second goal and that’s not
easy to do here,” said Hamberg. “It was another good comeback but we needed to
do more if we were to win. Graham Potter had a direct feed from the game to his
home and was always in touch with some of the other coaches. Anything he
thought I had that information quickly. He is a top manager,” he added.

Leicester have simply been struggling to get going
this season and they cannot do anything to make amendments to their campaign
due to the paucity of transfer funds. They are without nine players including
top scorer Jamie Vardy, and manager Brendan Rodgers admitted pre-match that
consecutive fifth-place finishes, plus the FA Cup last year, might be as good
as it gets for a while.

Brighton, meanwhile, remain impressive on the road,
where they have lost only once this season thanks to a flurry of late goals.
This was the fifth time in their last nine games that they had scored in the
final 10 minutes.

“We didn’t play well enough after we scored,” said
Rodgers. “We were getting rid of it instead of passing and we must be better.
We showed great courage mentally to fight to the end,” he added.
