A village in the Russian region of Bryansk, bordering Ukraine, has been hit by shelling, a local official claimed.

Governor Alexander Bogomaz, in a statement, said that the village of Zhecha came under fire when air defence systems detected a hostile plane entering their airspace. While the blast caused damage, nobody was hurt, he noted.

Bogomaz said there was damage to the casing of “technological buildings of the oil terminal” as well as surrounding areas.

On Friday, the governor announced another Ukrainian attack at a different location. “On April 29, a branch of the border department of the FSB of Russia in the Bryansk region in the village of Belaya Berezka, Trubchevsky district, was subjected to mortar fire from the territory of Ukraine”, he said in a post on his Telegram channel.

As per Bogomaz, the attacks damaged electricity and water networks in the region. However, Ukrainian defence forces have not said anything about these attacks.

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, the nation has withstood the onslaught, and forces found ground movement slow in areas around the capital Kyiv. Now, in the second wave, Russian forces are making a push from the east, while continuing their initial plan of attack from the south.

The latter assault is via indiscriminate airstrikes for which Russia has been accused of war crimes by Ukraine. However, Putin is determined that Moscow’s troops will achieve all their goals in Ukraine, among which is the strategically important land corridor that will connect Donbas to Crimea

Ukraine faces a battle on multiple fronts and has stated that they have lost regions in the east, due to the Russian attack. Despite the new tactic, Moscow continues its airstrikes on cities. Kyiv and Kharkiv have both faced this and it brings to mind Chechen chief Ramzan Kadyrov’s statement that Russia intends to capture all Ukrainian cities including the capital.
