The Taliban on Monday issued a statement and said the war in Afghanistan was over after they took over the capital city of Kabul. Thousands of people have gathered at Kabul airport to flee the country amid reports of fires being shot. President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan on Sunday. The country is in chaos and they are urging world leaders to address the issue.

1. According to Reuters, five people have been killed at the Kabul Airport

2. US troops, who are incharge of the Kabul Airport security, fired shots in air to disperse crowds.

3. Spokesman Abdullah Hafeez said Monday that Pakistan International Airlines decided to protect passengers, the crew and the planes after consulting the Afghan civil aviation authorities.

4. Italy’s has evacuated 70 embassy staff and Afghan employees from the capital city of Kabul.

5. US Pentagon and State Department said the American military would take over air-traffic control at the airport.

6. Afghan nationals protested against US President Joe Biden and said that he was responsible for the crisis in their country.

7. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is urging the Taliban and all other parties to exercise “utmost restraint” in order to protect the lives of Afghans and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

8. A Taliban spokesman and negotiator tells The Associated Press that the militant group is holding talks aimed at forming an “open, inclusive Islamic government” in Afghanistan.

10. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s whereabouts are still unknown after he fled the country on Sunday. Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry denied media reports that Ghani had flown to the country after footage showed him boarding a plane reportedly with family members and close aides.
