“Ukrainian Air Force shot down a cruise missile launched at the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, by a TU-22 bomber from the territory of Belarus. This is another war crime committed against Ukraine and its people,” according to Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a tweet on Sunday.
Belarus was a key player in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. According to Ukrainian officials, Russian troops entered via the Belarusian border with the cooperation of the Belarusian government, and the Biden administration sanctioned nine Belarusian defence corporations for their support of the assault.
