Munna Singh Chauhan, BJP MLA from Uttarakhand, said on
Tuesday that all 57 MLAs of the party in the state stand with Chief Minister
Trivendra Singh Rawat, news agency ANI reported.
“The chief minister will hold a press conference at around 3
pm today and tell everyone his next course of action. All 57 BJP MLAs stands
with the chief minister”, Chauhan was quoted by ANI as saying.
Chauhan had earlier said on Tuesday that Rawat had been discussing the issue with BJP leadership.
“The chief minister is consulting with the party leadership on the recent developments. He met many senior leaders including the party chief in Delhi yesterday. He has received a phone call from the party chief”, ANI quoted Chauhan as saying earlier on Tuesday.
As per various reports, Rawat’s performance in the party ahead of the assembly polls in the state next year have raised concerns, with several MLAs reportedly noting that his leadership could down the party in the polls, wanting a change in leadership.
Two central party observers, Raman Singh and Dushyant Gautam, were sent to Uttarakhand on Saturday to take stock of the situation.
