France’s Alizé Cornet brought Poland’s Iga Swiatek’s 37-match winning streak to an end by knocking her out of Wimbledon 2022 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on Saturday.
“This kind of match is what drives me, I knew I could do it. If there’s a moment you can beat her it’s now on grass and I was really focused. I have the best team by my side!” the Nice native said after the game, according to The Independent.
“I need to process it, I feel like I’m still playing. I’m like a good wine – a French wine always ages well! I’m playing one of the best seasons of my career, having a lot of fun and still very motivated,” she added.
