Meesha Shafi, a Pakistani singer, actor and model, accused actor Ali Zafar of groping her in a recording studio during the MeToo Movement. However, Zafar denied all the claims made by the singer and in fact filed a defamation case against her. After which, in September 2020, the Pakistan Law Enforcement Agency booked the singer on running a false campaign against Zafar. Latest reports suggest that the singer will have to spend three years in jail for the false allegations she had made.

Meesha came into limelight after she did a couple of hit movies like ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘Waar’. Meesha has also appeared in various seasons of Coke Studio and performed hit songs like ‘Chori Chori’ and ‘Jugni’.

The singer has been given the maximum punishment in a case filed by Ali Zafar, reports Daily Mail UK. In the defamation suit, the actor mentioned that the false allegations led to an irreparable damage to his career.

Shafi’s lawyers are now preparing to challenge the court’s decision, she also called the system ‘rigged’. In a statement, she said, “Which woman has got justice in a case of this nature and at what cost?”, as reported by the UK portal.
