The entire country is celebrating javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. While celebrities and well-known personalities have already congratulated the 23-year-old, famous brands have also hopped onto the bandwagon in their own way. Brands have started announcing a wide range of rewards for Chopra.

Neeraj Chopra, on Saturday, recorded an 87.58m throw, to win India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics. In doing so, he also became the country’s second individual Olympic gold medallist. The first one was Abhinav Bindra (2008, Beijing). 

After putting up a stellar performance, the Haryana-based athlete was showered with praises coming from all corners of the country. Some brands and establishments also announced rewards for Chopra.

1) Mahindra and Mahindra: Chairman Anand Mahindra took to Twitter to describe Neeraj Chopra as ‘Bahubali’. After a Twitter user asked the industrialist to gift an XUV700 to Chopra, he agreed immediately. 

2) Indigo: Deemed as India’s biggest carrier, Indigo airlines on Saturday announced unlimited free travel for ‘Sona Munda’ for a year after the athlete’s gold-winning performance.

“You have shown us what hard work, resilience and passion can achieve and I am sure you will be a torchbearer for future Indian athletes. Well done, Neeraj,” said Ronojoy Dutta, CEO of Indigo.

3) Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC): The state bus service awarded a Golden Pass to Neeraj Chopra saying that he can travel in any state corporation’s bus for life in the state and internationally for free.

4) Go First: The airline company, on Sunday, tweeted that they will award free travel for 5 years to all medal winners. 

“A token of appreciation for those who brought us glory at #Olympics2021. We are happy to offer free travel on our network for 5 years to all medal winners,” the company tweeted.

Apart from these awards, Neeraj Chopra will also get Rs 6 crore from the Haryana government. The Punjab government has decided to award him Rs 2 crore. BCCI and Chennai Super Kings have pledged Rs 1 crore each.
