When it comes to quarterbacks in the 2022-23 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers are ill-fated. Since the injury of  Jimmy Garopollo, their primary quarterback, in December 2022, the 49ers have been playing third-string rookie Brock Purdy in that position. Purdy had done well in the position, rising up the ranks to become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

However, as he was all set to push his team for their second consecutive NFL Super Bowl in the NFC title match against the Philadelphia Eagles, he picked up and injury.

To make matters even worse for the 49ers, his replacement, the fourth-string quarterback Josh Johnson also picked up an injury. With all the quarterbacks injured during the game, the 49ers were forced to play someone else out of position and both Kyle Juszczyk and Christian McCaffrey divided the job among themselves.

Who is Kyle Juszczyk?

Kyle Juszczyk was born on April 23, 1991, in Medina, Ohio. In the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected him out of Harvard, where he played college football. In Super Bowl LIV, Juszczyk became the first Harvard alumnus to ever score touchdown.
His salary is $4,750,000, and he receives $400,000 in roster bonuses and $100,000 in workout bonuses. He has $6,565,214 cap hit and $5,266,250 dead cap value.

However, Juszczyk did not have to come on as the 49ers carried on with an injured Brock Purdy. Unlike Patrick Mahomes, who led the Chiefs to a win despite an ankle injury, Purdy’s wrecked elbow affected his throw and the 49ers failed to turn the game around. Ultimately, they lost 31-7 as the Eagles secured a place in the Super Bowl.
