Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday morning for the murders of his wife and son. Murdaugh shaved his head for his newest mugshot, hours after he was handed two consecutive life sentences.
The 54-year-old former lawyer kept his distinctive red hair for most of his murder trial. He stared coldly ahead while wearing a yellow jumpsuit in the latest mugshot, snapped after he was booked at South Carolina’s Kirkland Reception and Evaluation Center.

The jury convicted Murdaugh of two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. They reached the verdict after less than three hours of deliberations.
Murdaugh will stay in a single cell for the next 45 days at the Columbia facility. It is a maximum-security, level-three prison for male offenders, reported Fox News.

He will undergo a series of tests on his physical and mental health as well as an educational assessment. It is a standard procedure for new male inmates to get some type of haircut reported, WLTX.
Murdaugh will be shifted to one of the state’s maximum-security prisons to serve out his double life sentence, said the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Murdaugh’s wife Maggie and 22-year-old son Paul were found dead back in 2021 on a family property in Islandton, South Carolina. They had been shot with two different guns.
He was indicted last summer for the murders, but always maintained he was innocent. He had an alibi but that was blown up when prosecutors presented video and audio proving he was on the property moments, within earshot of Maggie and Paul, before the murders.

While on the stand, Murdaugh confessed that he lied to authorities, but still maintained he did not kill them. Murdaugh’s defense attorneys said they plan to appeal the sentence within 10 days.
