Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the finest goal-scorer to have graced the UEFA Champions League, yet again pulled out Manchester United from the clutches of defeat with a brace, including a last gasp equaliser, in a 2-2 draw against Atalanta on Tuesday.
While United had a far from convincing performance to show for after their 3-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, Ronaldo made sure that the Red Devils did not return empty-handed from the Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo.
Atalanta had led 2-0 at Old Trafford two weeks prior, but the Red Devils had come back to win 3-2 in their last meeting.

The Gian Piero Gasperini-managed side opened the game on the front foot and were rewarded for their efforts when a Duvan Zapata shot, in the 12th minute, ricocheted off goalkeeper David De Gea into the United goal.
With the early lead, Atlanta always looked like the side in control until just moments ahead of the halftime whistle. Ronaldo dropped to the midfield and started a progressive move into the box and tucked home the equaliser in the 46th minute after being set up by a Bruno Fernandes backheel.
After the back, Atlanta seemed too tired by their constant press in the first half, however, United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked out of depths to take advantage of the situation.

The visitors require a flash of brilliance from Mr Champions League — Cristiano Ronaldo — who hauled them back from the brink of loss. In the 91st minute, Mason Greenwood won the ball near the Atalanta box and set up Ronaldo for a half volley, which the Portuguese smacked past helpless Juan Musso.
The 2-2 draw salvages a point for Man United and keeps them second in the Group F standings with two games although they are equal on points with Villarreal. While Atalanta are third in the group.
