A man identified as Francisco Oropesa was charged with capital murder by a grand jury on Friday. The accusations are related to claims that Oropesa shot into his neighbor’s house on April 28.

The neighbors claim that Francisco Oropesa, the alleged offender, started shooting at them after they asked him to stop firing his gun so close to their property. They requested it because they believed the noise was waking up a baby.

Who is Francisco Oropesa?

Francisco Oropesa is a Mexican national. He is 38 years old. Before his killings, he has been deported from the US four times.

He is accused of killing five people from Honduras in May. Diana Velásquez Alvarado, 21, Julisa Molina Rivera, 31, Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18, Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25, and Daniel Enrique Laso, 9, were the victims.

Police officials have revealed that the accused killer, Francisco Oropesa, was under the influence of alcohol when he forcibly entered the home on April 28. It is reported that he violently shot at his victims using an AR-15-style gun.

Oropesa has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder as a result of the incident. He has been ordered to be kept under bonds totaling $7.5 million during the court proceedings. 

Recently, the accused could face the death penalty for his crimes. San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon in a statement to CNN said, “We have not decided whether we will seek the death penalty because the defense has not had an opportunity to present any mitigation evidence for the state to consider.”

His wife, Divimara Lamar Nava, was also arrested by the police officials, for orchestrating an escape plan for Oropesa after gruesome killings. The 38-year-old fled the scene after the killings which led to an extreme manhunt. Though he was later captured by the officials.
