A store employee was discovered in the back storage area by the responding officers. The 21-year-old female victim had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and was declared dead. Her identity has not been made public.

After the incident, another woman hurt her ankle while rushing out of the shop.

According to Evergreen Park Police Chief Michael Saunders, surveillance footage from the store does not capture the actual gunshot, but it does capture the victim separating from the alleged gunman and entering the back storage area.

The same woman was involved in a prior domestic dispute while employed at the 95th and Pulaski Amazon Fresh store, according to police in the neighboring Oak Lawn. In order to work at the Mariano’s in Evergreen Park, according to Saunders, she quit her position there.

According to Saunders, the victim’s boyfriend has been identified as the alleged gunman. Through the use of traffic cameras and motorway license plate readers, Chicago police were able to locate him on the North Side in an unidentified area.
