Michael Oher, a retired NFL player, recently claimed he was not adopted by a prosperous white family, as depicted in the 2009 film “The Blind Side.” They allegedly used him to expand their wealth at his expense, according to information from a Tennessee court document obtained by ESPN on Monday.

The Shelby County, Tennessee, probate court has received a 14-page petition claiming that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who hosted Oher during high school, did not adopt him. The couple allegedly tricked Oher into signing a document appointing them as his conservators within less than three months after he turned 18 in 2004, according to the petition submitted to the court.

Who is Michael Oher?

Michael Jerome Oher was born on May 28, 1986. He was a professional offensive tackle in American football who played for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL), mostly with the Baltimore Ravens.

He was named an undisputed All-American at the University of Mississippi, where he played college football. In the end, the Ravens selected him in the opening round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Oher also demonstrated his abilities when playing for the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans.

Oher signed a contract for $13.8 million over five years with the Baltimore Ravens on July 30, 2009. He began at right tackle at the start of the 2009 campaign. Oher’s position changed to left tackle as a result of lineman Jared Gaither’s injury. He then returned to his original position as a right tackle in week eight.
