The BSE Sensex tanked 303.35 points or 0.56% to settle at
53,749.26. During the day, the benchmark touched a low of 53,683.16 and a high
of 54,379.59. The NSE Nifty 50 tumbled 99.35 points or 0.62% to end at
16,025.80.
The broader indices ended in red with the BSE Midcap
index down by 1.93% and the Small-cap index down by 2.94%. The only gaining
sectoral index on the BSE was Bankex up by 0.21%, while IT was down by 3.19%,
Realty down by 3.02%, Industrials down by 2.66%, Consumer discretionary down by
2.47% and Capital Goods down by 2.44% were the top losing indices on BSE.

Here are the key stocks that moved most on May 25:
Hindustan Zinc: The stock jumped 4.10% to close at Rs
307.50 after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on May 25
approved a proposal to sell the government’s entire remaining stake in
Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), reported Moneycontrol. The Union government owns a
29.5% stake in Hindustan Zinc, which is promoted by Vedanta Limited. The Anil
Agarwal-led Vedanta holds a 64.92% stake in the zinc-lead miner. According to
the current market price, the government’s stake in Hindustan Zinc is valued at
around Rs 38,000 crore.

InterGlobe Aviation: The stock fell 2.08% to close at Rs
1,648.00 after the airline reported a net loss of Rs 1,681.7 crore in the March
quarter against a loss of Rs 1,147.1 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue
surged 29% to Rs 8,020.7 crore against Rs 6,222.9 crore in the same quarter of
the previous financial year. EBITDA dropped 93% to Rs 37.80 crore compared with
Rs 551.40 crore year on year. EBITDA margin stood at 0.47% against 8.86% in
premarket.

Sugar stocks: Shares of Balrampur Chini, Dwarikesh Sugar,
Sakthi Sugars, and Dhampur Sugar ended 3-9% down on the BSE after the
government order capping sugar exports at 10 million tonnes until further
notice.

Minda Industries: The
stock surged 5.91% to close at Rs 884.70 after Minda Industries reported a 3%
rise in net profit to Rs 144 crore in the March quarter compared with Rs 140
crore in the year-ago period. Revenue surged 7.90% to Rs 2,415.08 crore. The
company said its board approved raising Rs 1,000 crore via debt and also
approved bonus shares of 1 new share of every 1 share held.
