Jayant Yadav has been named as Washington Sundar’s replacement for the ODI series against South Africa. The latter was ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19. The series begins on January 19.
Along with Jayanat Yadav, the All-India Senior Selection Committee also added pacer Navdeep Saini to the squad as a back-up for an injured Mohammed Siraj.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jayant Yadav as replacement for Sundar,” BCCI said in a statement.
“The Committee also added fast bowler Navdeep Saini to the ODI squad as a back-up for Mohammed Siraj who is still recovering from his hamstring injury that he sustained in the 2nd Test against South Africa in Johannesburg,” the statment added.

Sundar tested positive for the virus in Bengaluru. He did not join the 18-member squad in Mumbai, who are scheduled to leave for Cape Town this week. Whereas, Haryana all-rounder Jayant Yadav is already in South Africa and will stay back.
The ODI series against South Africa begins in Paarl on January 19. The second ODI is scheduled at the same venue on January 21, following which the team will travel to Cape Town for the series-finale.
