An igloo café that recently opened in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, has quickly become the most talked-about tourist destination in the union territory.
‘Snowglu’ has been installed in the well-known ski resort of Gulmarg. It measures 37.5 feet tall and 44.5 feet in diameter and is said to be the world’s largest igloo cafe, with seating for 40 people.
The igloo’s inventor, Syed Wasim Shah, said it was the world’s largest café of its sort.

“I saw this notion a few years ago in Switzerland, where they had similar hotels that also offer sleeping facilities. I reasoned since Gulmarg gets a lot of snow, why not start this notion here?” PTI quoted Shah as saying.
Shah further stated that in 2021, he plans to open the largest igloo cafe in Asia.
He stated that the current record holder, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is an igloo in Switzerland with a height of 33.8 feet and a circumference of 42.4 feet. Shah continued by claiming that the one in Gulmarg is larger.
According to Mahur, a member of the cafe’s management, the management has already applied for the World Record.

“It is the largest Igloo café in the world. We have applied for the World Record, which is now being processed. The previous world record was set in Switzerland in 2016, which we have exceeded. It stands 37.5 feet tall and has a diameter of 44.5 feet,” Mahur stated.
“There are two sections in this section, one for seats and another for art, such as wall carvings. We made seat coverings out of sheep’s hide. It took us two months to finish building it. Traditional Kashmiri food is available for visitors to enjoy,” she continued.
The café has ten tables and is large enough to seat 40 people. There is also a staircase. Shah stated that 25 employees worked on the café to build it in just 64 days.
