After Tokyo Olympics, the next Olympics will
be held in Paris in 2024. Paris Olympics to stage beach volleyball underneath
the Eiffel Tower.

The French city has big preparations for its
third Summer Olympics, which will take place exactly 100 years after the
previous time it hosted the athletic event.

According to Estanguet, preparations for the
2024 Games are well advanced, and despite the pandemic’s problems, there are no
substantial construction delays.

Three years later, the Paris team is still
hoping that the epidemic that wreaked havoc on the Tokyo Olympics would be over
by 2024.

“Of course, we are learning a lot as we
have done here in Tokyo about adapting to the challenges of a pandemic,”
said Agathe Renoux, spokesperson for Paris 2024. “We are ready to adapt
and we are keeping our focus on our exciting Games.”

 Beach
volleyball will be held at a temporary stadium erected in the city centre, on
the renowned Champs de Mars, with the Eiffel Tower as a background, following
in the footsteps of London 2012

The archery will be held on the large lawn in
front of Les Invalides, about one kilometre to the east, while the equestrian
events will be held in the Palace of Versailles’ sumptuous gardens.

The opening ceremony, which will be held in
the heart of Paris for the first time, is still under wraps, but organiser
Estanguet stressed the need of “connecting the public” with the
Games.

The
Games promise much-needed infrastructure development across Paris, including
new metro and road links, with around one billion euros ($1.18 billion) in
Olympics-related investment planned.
