‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ sees the titular magician team up with Wong and America Chavez to save the day. However, the movie has an unlikely villain in Wanda Maximoff, whose use of the Darkhold gives her character an ominous turn.
[Warning: Spoilers ahead]
Since the film ends with the good guys saving the day, there’s been questions about whether the film’s main antagonist, Maximoff made it out alive.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Ending, explained
Maximoff starts looking for her children in alternate universes, after losing her boys at the end of ‘WandaVision’, when her made-up town, Westview, is destroyed. However, in this quest, she doesn’t stop to think about the other Wandas hurt in the process.

When Maximoff sees the terror in her children’s eyes, she’s confronted with the horrifying reality of her plan and decides to destroy the Darkhold across universes.
The Scarlet Witch accomplishes this by destroying Wundagore Moutain, where the Darkhold spells were initially written.
However, her plan seemingly leaves her buried under the rubble. The movie shifts focus to Doctor Strange’s next adventure with Clea, a sorceress portrayed by Charlize Theron.
Is Wanda Maximoff dead?
While there is no official confirmation whether Maximoff is dead, the movie seems to have buried her under the rubble for now. Wanda Maximoff’s transition to Scarlet Witch most likely means that Disney will not kill off one of its major characters.

However, it might be a while before we see Elizabeth Olsen’s Maximoff on the screen. She’s likely to grapple with the lives taken during her quest to find her children and might use her powers for good after her return.
With Maximoff’s powers, it would not have been hard to construct a shield to protect herself from the rubble, only deciding to emerge after the entire thing is over.
