Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on Thursday reportedly said that blacklisting of the Haqqani family by the United States is a
clear violation of the Doha Agreement.
The statement from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs read, “Pentagon officials have remarked that some
cabinet members of the Islamic Emirate or family members of late Haqqani Sahib
are on the US blacklists and still targets.”
The new interior minister Sirrajudin
Haqqani, a member of the Haqqani Network is named in the United Nation’s terror
list. A bounty of $5 million has also been put on him, Al-Jazeera reported.

“The Islamic Emirate considers this
position a clear violation of the Doha Agreement which is neither in the
interest of the United States nor Afghanistan.” the statement said.
Haqqani is not the only member of the
acting government who has been blacklisted. Meanwhile, acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad
Hassan Akhund also does not have a clean chit.
The Doha agreement initiated the
withdrawal of US forces and required a guarantee from the Taliban to not allow
the functioning of groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS on Afghan soil.

Earlier this week Khalil-ur-Rahman
Haqqani, another member of the Haqqani network was announced in charge if the
security for Kabul. Several Afghans voiced their displeased with the
announcement. They questioned the ability of the most brutal group associated
with Taliban to bring security to the nation after years of war.
The Taliban has accused the US government
of meddling in the internal affairs of Afghanistan on a number of occasions and
has asked to resolve issues through diplomatic interactions.
The
statement further read, “Such remarks by US
officials are a repetition of past failed experiments and such positions
detrimental for America. We urge that these incorrect policies be immediately
reversed through diplomatic interactions.”
