The 64th Annual Grammy Awards is set to air Sunday and there are several names who are contenders to becoming potential record breakers this year.

This year, the nominations are led by Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, H.E.R. and many others also competing for awards. As the event is almost here, take a closer look at the predicted history makers.

This year, Jon Batiste leads the race with 11 Grammy Award nominations, Billie Eilish is nominated for seven prizes and the 19-year-old Olivia Rodrigo is nominated in all of the so-called Big Four categories: record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist.

Doja Cat is another nomination front runner with up for eight Grammys. Justin Bieber has picked up eight nominations. Singer-songwriter H.E.R. (Gabriella Wilson) was also nominated eight times, including in two top categories, album of the year and song of the year, along with different R&B categories.

Jon Batiste:

Jon Batiste may have the opportunity to break the record of iconic artists Michael Jackson and Santana, who currently are tied for the most Grammys won in a single night (male/overall) at eight.

With 11 nominations to his name, Batiste still faces strong competition from the likes of Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber.

The singer can still come out with a whopping nine wins, even if he loses his general field categories (Album of the Year for “We Are” and Record of the Year for “Freedom”).

With his track “Freedom,” album “We Are” and the soundtrack for Disney’s jazz cartoon “Soul,” Batiste collected nods for his work in various genres, from American roots to jazz to R&B.

Doja Cat:

Doja Cat has been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance for the infectious “Need to Know” and Best Rap Song for “Best Friend” alongside Saweetie. Doja’s huge hit album “Planet Her” is also a contender for a Pop Vocal Album win.

Justin Bieber:

The Canadian singer has demonstrated over the past few years that he’s more than just a teen idol. His nominations tie him with Doja Cat and H.E.R., who all come in behind Jon Batiste and his historic 11 nods. He is currently nominated for Album of the Year for his latest record Justice, and both Record and Song of the Year for his number one hit “Peaches.”

H.E.R:

Tied with Justin Bieber and Doja Cat, singer-songwriter H.E.R. (Gabriella Wilson) was also nominated eight times, including best contemporary Christian music song. This year marks H.E.R.’s third time getting nominated for the Song of the Year award category, joining Eilish and FINNEAS in achieving the record title for the most consecutive Grammy nominations for Song of the Year. This year, H.E.R.’s “Fight For You” may be the song that earns her a second consecutive win.

Billie Eilish:

Eilish is nominated for seven prizes, including album, song and record of the year. If she wins the latter, for her tune “Happier Than Ever,” she would make history by becoming the first woman to win the Grammy in the coveted category three times, joining Paul Simon.

Olivia Rodrigo:

The 19-year-old star is nominated in all of the so-called Big Four categories: record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist. This year has been big for Filipino American artists. Along with Olivia Rodrigo, nominees H.E.R, Bruno Mars and Saweetie are all with Philippine heritage.
