England
have produced a remarkable draw in the fourth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground
(SCG), Sydney to dash Australia‘s hopes of winning the ongoing Ashes Test series
5-0. After Jack Leach, Stuart Broad and James Anderson braved the Australian attack to help draw the match, the
cricket fraternity went crazy with ICC, fans, cricketers and an IPL franchise reacting to the remarkable drama that unfolded on the last day of a rather
one-sided match.

England had already lost the Ashes 3-0 in Melbourne. Sydney Test was Australia’s
chance of extending the lead to 4-0 and going close to handing England a
whitewash. But veterans Broad and Anderson returned to the pavilion smiling at
each other after Australia failed to dismiss them.
Broad
consumed 35 deliveries to score eight runs while Anderson played six balls
without scoring a single run. Leach, another lower-order batter, scored 26 off
34 balls before being caught by David Warner off Steve Smith’s bowling. As the
tailenders made Australians frustrated, they surrounded the England batters
with nine close-in fielders. The photo of the
moment went viral on social media, generating plenty of reactions from all.

IPL
franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on that occasion, tried to hog the
limelight, sharing a photo from their 2016 match against now-defunct Rising
Pune Supergiant on Twitter. “That moment when a classic move in Test cricket
actually reminds you of a T20 master stroke,” tweeted KKR.

In a
low-scoring match, Rising Pune Supergiant suffered a heavy eight-wicket defeat.
The defeat blocked MS Dhoni’s side chances of qualifying in the play-offs.
In the
frame, Dhoni can be seen on strike while KKR fielders surrounded him to block
singles as RPSG were struggling at 74/4 after 10 overs. KKR captain Gautam
Gambhir’s field placements were similar to that of a Test match which made the Tweet
popular. Dhoni had a forgettable outing on the given occasion as he scored 8
after facing 22 deliveries.

Though KKR
won on that occasion, Australia could not on Sunday as England batters’ only
objective was drawing the match not losing or winning it.
