Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor set the record for
the longest run in franchise history against Houston Texans on Saturday.
The second-year running back put the Colts inside the
opponent’s 10-yard line with an 83-yard rush in the third quarter. Taylor
scored on a 4-yard run to cap the drive.

Tom Matte (1964) and Donald Brown (1965) had the previous
longest runs in Colts history, both of which were 80 yards (2011).
The Colts had 15 carries for 109 yards subsequently. During
the drive, Taylor rushed for 88 yards on four carries.

Taylor continued his momentum for the rest of the
game, scoring on an 11-yard run in the final minutes of a Colts rout. On 14
carries, he gained 145 yards.
In 2020, Taylor rushed for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns
as a rookie. Through five games this season, he has 327 rushing yards and two
touchdowns. In each season, he had one receiving touchdown.
The Indianapolis
Colts chose Taylor with the 41st selection in the second round of the 2020 NFL
Draft, after acquiring the pick in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.
He made his NFL
debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 of the 2020 season.

On November 28,
2020, the team placed him on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and he was activated on
December 2.
Taylor had a career game in Week 17, gaining 253 yards
and two touchdowns to overtake Edgerrin James for the Colts franchise record
for a single game. He also reached 1,000 yards for the season.
He rushed 232 times for 1,169 yards, 11 touchdowns, and
one fumble during the regular season.
In addition, he was third in the league in running yards,
trailing only Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry.
For his performances in December, Taylor was awarded the
NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.
