A lottery winner in Australia almost missed out on the massive prize money of AUD1.3 million because of utter disbelief. The Darwin resident thought someone was trying to play a hoax on him after he saw all of the magical six numbers on the lottery app. The man said he got suspicious because he hadn’t received an email that usually arrived after previous draws.
“So when I woke up on Sunday morning, I logged into The Lott app and I saw I had all six numbers. I thought ‘well, that’s strange’ and then I saw the prize amount, and I thought it must be some kind of hoax,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, was among the five winners of the TattsLotto draw, each of whom took home $1,304,947.

His wife, too, didn’t believe the couple had hit the jackpot. “She just kept saying, ‘no, it can’t be! It’s got to be a hoax’,” the man said.
Revealing the tense moments, the man said he “had to remember to breathe!”
The couple hope to pay off their mortgage and set up a retirement fund with the lottery money.
In March, a $2.5million Lotto jackpot proved to be a near miss for another Darwin resident as he thought of not buying the winning ticket from a newsagency due to heavy rush.
“You know, I nearly walked away from buying this ticket,” the man had told the Mail after his win.
“It was busy in-store, and I was in a rush, but I thought, ‘bugger it, I’m here now. I’ll buy it. I just grabbed a QuickPick. I usually buy a 12 game, but this time I went bigger, and that’s what I won on. It must have been meant to be,” he was quoted as saying.
