With Air India officially being taken over by the Tata Group, passengers are in for a renewed flight experience. Certain changes, including in-flight meals, will begin from Thursday. Other changes will be made in a phased manner.
With upgradation in meal plans, passengers on Air India flights on the Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Bengaluru, Mumbai-London, Mumbai-Newark, and Mumbai-Abu Dhabi routes will be provided upgraded meals, courtesy of Taj SATS.
Taj SATS is a leading airline catering service. It falls under the Taj Group.
Furthermore, a circular dated January 21 informed cabin crew of a beverage service that will be conducted prior to major meals, in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP).
The circular also highlighted the use of service trolleys to provide beverages in Business and First classes. Carts for soft drink service will be used in the Economy class.
Another key change will be in-flight announcements. Contrary to regular cabin crew announcements, Air India under Tata may include a voiceover address by Tata’s 84-year-old founder, Ratan Tata. The unique announcement will be in motion starting Friday and is said to become a tradition on all returning Air India Maharajah flights.

The airline will also provide newspapers and magazines to passengers prior to take-off. A magazine rack will display an array of reading materials.
The makeover also stands for cabin crew, who are instructed to dress well to accurately represent the poise of the brand. A grooming associate will look over the appearance and dressing standards of the crew.
Furthermore, the management has also kept punctuality in mind, with a note stating, “All endeavours to close doors at D minus 10 mins.”
