The biopic based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, which stars actor Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, will be called ‘Sam Bahadur.’ The name of the biographical movie, which is being directed by Meghna Gulzar, was announced on Saturday, April 3, which marks the birth anniversary of Sam Manekshaw.
Vicky announced the name of the movie on his social media handles, sharing a video that shows different names of the first Field Marshal before he was called Sam Bahadur. With the names flashing on screen, a voiceover said, “Kai naamo se pukare gaye, ek naam se humare hue [Called by many name, became one of us by one name.]”
He captioned the video, “The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Sam Bahadur…On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. Sam Bahadur.”
Sam Manekshaw was the first Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army and commanded the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war.
Vicky Kaushal first announced the film on the death anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in 2019 by sharing the first look poster of the movie.
