Amid a sudden spike in coronavirus numbers in Maharashtra, the Beed district administration on Wednesday imposed a total lockdown from March 26 to April 4, reported ANI. According to the issued order, essential services, including grocery stores and pharmacies, will remain open.

As per media reports, it has been said in the Beed order that all marriage halls, hotels and restaurants will stay shut in the district. All schools, colleges and private offices will also remain closed during the lockdown. 

Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 28,699 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the tally to 25,33,026. The state also reported 132 deaths due to the disease, taking the death toll to 53,589; as per a PTI report.

With the discharge of 13,165 patients, the total of recoveries increased to 22,47,495, while there are 2,30,641 active cases.

There are 11,77,265 people are in-home quarantine while 11,887 are in institutional quarantine.
