A viral video circulating on social media displays two Ukrainian refugee schoolgoers being welcomed by an Italian school as they enter the school’s premises on their first day.
The video features the duo receiving a round of applause from the students and faculty members as they step inside. A few students waving Ukrainian flags and decorations of blue and yellow colours are also seen in the video. The heartwarming video has left several internet users emotional.
Uploaded on Twitter by a user on Sunday, the caption of the video reads, “Meeting of Ukrainian children at the Italian School.”
Another user who shared the video wrote, “This video of Ukrainian children starting at their new school in Italy is (crying emoji). #LongLiveUkraine.”

The 1-minute-20-second long video has garnered over 4.1 million views and hundreds of comments on the platform.
One Twitter user wrote, “Thank you for reminding me of the goodness in the world. I needed this.”

Since the Russian invasion, over 2.2 million Ukrainian civilians have fled their homeland, with the figure speculated to rise to 4 million in a few days.

Last week, another Italian school held a birthday party for two Ukrainian orphans who escaped their country. The duo was welcomed at the Magicabula centre in Cerchio by local Mayor Gianfranco Tedeschi.
According to a tweet by the interior ministry, “34,851 refugees have entered Italy from the beginning of the conflict to date: 17,685 women, 3,040 men and 14,126 minors.”

Nearly 35,000 Ukrainians have found refuge in Italy. Most of them entered the country through its northeastern border territory with Slovenia.
