January 6 hearings: 5 officials who will testify in the second session

The January 6 committee has been laser-focused on revealing facts and testimonies related to the US Capitol riots of 2021. In its second public hearing session on Monday, the panel has released a fresh list of people who will testify.

The new set of testimonies have been divided into two separate panels, both of which will appear back to back on Monday at 10 AM ET. It is unclear if all of the people on the panel have testified to the congressional committee previously.

The two panels include a range of individuals — from former aides of Donald Trump to election officials and prominent journalists.

According to a tweet from the January 6 committee on Sunday, the following people will testify:

Panel 1

-William Stepien, former Trump campaign manager

-Chris Stirewalt, former Fox Political Editor

Panel 2

-Benjamin Ginsberg, Election Attorney

-BJay Pak, Former US Attorney Northern District of Georgia

-Al Schmidt, Former Philadelphia City Commissioner

The upcoming hearings of the January 6 committee will put former US President Donald Trump in the spotlight, again.

Representative Liz Cheney explained that Monday’s hearing will be split into three fractions. These include:

-Giving details about how Trump “engaged in a massive effort to spread false and fraudulent information” even though he knew he had lost the 2020 elections.

-How Trump pressurised former US Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election results during the joint Congress session. The rioters broke into the capital while the session was underway.

-Shedding light on how multiple White House officials threatened to resign from their positions. Many officials also confronted Trump in the Oval Office, Cheney said during the last session.

“There is no doubt that President Trump was well aware of the violence as it developed,” Cheney said. “White House staff urged President Trump to intervene and call off the mob.”
