batter Rovman Powell said that he was confident of hitting six sixes in a row
in the controversial final over against Rajasthan Royals. The high scoring
match turned out to be controversial in the third ball of the 20th over when Powell hit a
six off a waist-high full toss. DC eventually lost the match by 15 runs.

DC were required
36 off the final over. Powell hit three consecutive sixes from the first three
balls bowled by Obed McCoy, including the third ball which was waist-high, to
bring it down to 18 runs off 3 balls.

However, Delhi
Capitals captain Rishabh Pant got angry with the umpires for not calling the
delivery a no-ball. Umpires, however, stood firm to their decision of calling
the delivery legal. Pant then called his batters Powell and Kuldeep Yadav back
to the dugout. Batting coach Pravin Amre rushed to the field and had an
animated talk with the umpires. Both Pant and Amre were punished. While Pant
was fined Rs 1 crore Amre was banned for a match by the BCCI.

The West Indies
cricketer, however, wants to forget the fast and focus on upcoming matches.

“It is something
we have to put behind us very fast. We have a lot of games coming up, and we
have no time to dwell in the past,” Powell was quoted as saying in a media
release.

“You know, we
have to always look to the future because some important games are coming up.
Important games for us to win to qualify for the next round of the competition.
We have no time to sit and think about what happened in the past,” said the
West Indian.

Powell, who has
been unable to make any solid contributions to the DC camp, had kept Delhi’s
hopes of winning the match by hitting three back to back sixes.

The game had
resumed after a 15-minute pause and Powell said that batting coach Shane
Watson’s comments on the umpire’s decision were final.

“To be honest, I
was pretty confident (at hitting six sixes in an over). After I got the first
two, I was like what can happen from here, and then I got the next one. I was
just hoping that it was a no-ball, but the umpire’s decision is final, and we
as cricketers take that and move on.”

In the six
innings in IPL 2022, Powell scored 0, 20, 3, 8, 0 and 36.
