Actor and singer Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of popular musician Britney Spears, has alleged that a Tesla car killed her cats and told CEO Elon Musk that he owes her a couple of new feline friends.
In an Instagram video, which has been deleted now, Jamie called Tesla “a secret cat killer” as her pets were run over by a Tesla they never heard coming. Notably, Tesla produces electric cars that are quieter than gas-powered vehicles.
“We have now lost — I don’t want to tell you how many cats — because they don’t hear the Tesla crank and unfortunate things happen and it’s really devastating and tragic for everyone involved,” she said in her post as per the news reports that preserved the video.

The 29-year-old artist also came up with a suggestion for Musk.
“Maybe he [Elon] could make one of those noises that bother a cat or animal’s ears when it cranks up, so that way they know something’s happening and it’s not caught off guard and things don’t end in a very tragic way,” she continued.
“So Elon Musk let’s figure this out, you owe me a couple of cats,” Jamie added.
As it turns out, Tesla and other electric cars are required to emit sounds, as of September 2020.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now requires electric cars to emit sounds of at least 43 decibels when they’re travelling at speeds less than 18.6 miles per hour. That’s about the level of noise your dishwasher makes.
Jamie, the mom of two, who is married to businessman Jamie Watson, did, however, admit she was aware there was “some user error involved” in the accident.
