German Health Minister Jens Spahn urged
citizens to get jabbed as they will be “vaccinated, cured or dead” against
COVID-19 in a few months.

“Probably by the end of this winter,
as is sometimes cynically said, pretty much everyone in Germany will be vaccinated,
cured or dead,” Spahn said, blaming “the very contagious Delta
variant”.

“That is why we so urgently recommend
vaccination,” he added.

The shock warning came from Spahn as
Germany sees a rise in Coronavirus infections in recent weeks, with hospitals
sounding the alarm about overflowing intensive care units.

Reluctant
citizens                              

Despite the availability of free
coronavirus vaccines, only 68 per cent of the Germans took both shots. Experts
say it is too low to keep the pandemic under control.

The European Union’s most populous country,
Germany recorded 30,643 fresh cases on Monday, according to the Robert Koch
Institute health agency, bringing the total to just over 5.3 million since the
pandemic hit the country.

Almost 100,000 people have died so far in
Germany, including 62 over the past 24 hours.

“We have a very, very difficult
situation in many hospitals,” Spahn said.

Last week Germany announced tougher
Coronavirus rules to contain the ferocious fourth COVID wave. Munich’s iconic
Christmas market has been cancelled for the second year in a row and Berlin has
banned unvaccinated people from entering theatres, restaurants and bars.

Rolls-Royce and Mercedes of vaccines        

Germany, meanwhile, started offering
booster shots to all adults despite WHO saying no to booster shots to tame the
fourth wave.

Moderna shot as the “Rolls-Royce” of vaccines, while Pfizer jab is the
“Mercedes” as the country looks to roll out booster shots.

Speaking on Monday at a press conference, Health Minister Jens
Spahn said that the government will insist on the use of
the Moderna vaccine as a COVID-19 booster, warning that millions of shots could
expire in the first quarter of 2022 unless used.

The minister emphasized that the preference
of most Germans for the Pfizer vaccine was deceiving, as he claimed that
experts call the Moderna shot the “Rolls-Royce” of COVID-19 vaccines.
Meanwhile, the Pfizer vaccine, developed in partnership with German firm
BioNTech, was more comparable to “Mercedes.”
