WWE star and actor John Cena posted a picture of Sanket Sargar, India’s first medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham on his Instagram handle, leaving social media users puzzled.

At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sargar took home a silver medal in the men’s 55kg division. The 21-year-old, who is from Sangli in Maharashtra, lifted a total of 248 kg (113 kg in the snatch and 135 kg in the clean & jerk) to start India’s account in the ongoing multi-nation competition.

John Cena is known for posting such cryptic post on Instagram from time to time. In fact, the former rapper’s Instagram bio states,” Welcome to my Instagram. These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.” He doesn’t add captions to the photographs he publishes, leaving it up to his fans to make sense of them.
Indians immediately flocked to the comment section to express gratitude or praise for this unexpected mention. One user wrote,” John cena is a true indian from heart,” while another wrote,” Respect for John Cena.” Some user were left puzzled and commented,”Is this account hacked by any indian?”.

Meanwhile, Sargar had a strong snatch start and established a comfortable lead. After lifting 135 kg in his first effort at the clean and jerk, he appeared to be in control. However, he failed at 139 kg in his following two attempts, hurting his right forearm in the process. He was wearing a cast on his hand when the medal ceremony took place and would later go for medicals.
The 21-year-old comes from a very humble background. His father runs a paan shop and a food stall in Sangli. Appreciating his efforts Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also announced that Sargar would receive a reward of 30 lakhs and that his trainer would also receive 7 lakhs prize money.
