Veteran Indian actor Mithilesh Chaturvedi has breathed his last in Lucknow. The 68-year-old actor, who had a film career spanning more than 25 years, died after a heart attack. Reportedly, he had also undergone heart surgery quite recently. Gadaar (starring Sunny Deol), Taal (starring Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai), Satya (starring Manoj Bajpayee), and Koi Mil Gaya (starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta) are among the many blockbuster movies he was a part of. The actor’s son-in-law shared a post on Facebook mourning the loss, saying that Chaturvedi treated him not as a son-in-law, but as a son. He also regarded the Asoka actor as the world’s greatest father-in-law:

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who recently worked with Chaturvedi in the much-acclaimed webseries, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, where the actor played Ram Jethmalani, mourned the loss of his colleague and friend in an Instagram story. Chaturvedi was a Lucknow native and had completed his education from Lucknow University as well.

Besides films, he has also acted in a number of television serials. Legendary poet/lyricist Gulzar had also directed Chaturvedi in his adaption of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. The actor has worked with legends of the industry, as well as stark newcomers. He left a simple life, and was not usually seen in Bollywood parties. From comic roles to villainous ones, he was at ease with everything.

Chaturvedi was also recently seen in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Gulabo Sitabo, and in the webseries Patiala Babes. Some of Chaturvedi’s most beloved roles came in TV serials, especially in Neeli Chatri Wale, where he plays the character of Aatmaram Chaubey, and in Kayamath.
