Bill Lee, the governor of Tennessee, is a member of the Republican party. He will be on the primary election ballot but will run unopposed to retain his office. Bill Lee is the 50th governor of Tennessee.
Bill Lee, 62, will face one of the following Democratic candidates in the midterm elections, which are scheduled for November 8, 2022. The Democratic candidates include Carnita Atwater, Jason Martin and JB Smiley Jr.

Who is Bill Lee?
Bill Lee, born on October 9, 1959, is a native of Tennessee. He was raised in the town of Franklin, where he continues to reside with his wife Maria. The couple also had four children, Jessica, twin sons Jacob and Caleb, and Sarah Kate.
Bill Lee attended the Williamson County Schools and then briefly moved away from home to pursue mechanical engineering at Auburn University in Alabama. He later joined his family’s construction business. He became the President of Lee Company in 1992.
Bill Lee entered the American political sphere with no prior experience in the field. He launched his bid for governor and advertised himself as a social conservative. After winning the primaries, he defeated former Nashville mayor Karl Dean in the 2018 general election.

According to Bill Lee’s campaign website, his focus has largely been clearing bills passed by Tennessee’s Republican-headed state Senate and House of Representatives. His office has focused on “quality education, economic development, public safety, and supporting families, all with a particular focus on the accelerated transformation of rural Tennessee.”
Bill Lee is expected to have an advantage in the upcoming primary elections in Tennessee, a state which is considered to be a Republican stronghold, according to reports from Associated Press. Tennessee has not elected a Democratic lawmaker to a statewide office since 2006.
