In order to help impoverished kids fulfil their potential as professionals, AB De Villiers, a former South African international cricketer, is working with Make a Difference (MAD), a well-known Indian NGO for underprivileged children.
AB de Villiers, a former player for Royal Challengers Bangalore and a three-time captain of South Africa in cricket, has volunteered his time to Make a Difference (MAD). The NGO has created a prosperity model that it uses with children from the age of 10 up until they are 28 years old and settle down in life with steady income levels. It works with children in India who require care and safety.

“India has been incredibly kind to me over the years, and I am always looking for ways to give something back. I am happy to be associated with MAD and will mentor two young people supported by the team. The NGO offers consistent support to children born into extremely difficult circumstances until they break the cycle of poverty. Their work is incredible,” AB de Villiers stated.
AB De Villiers will mentor two beneficiaries over the next six months during the initial stage of his volunteering, 18-year-old Ayan from Lucknow, who has just finished school and wants to play cricket at the under-19 level and possibly for India and Anitha, a 21-year-old journalism student in Bangalore. She aspires to be a TV news anchor someday.

What is MAD?
Make a Difference, or MAD as it is affectionately known by its supporters, collaborators, and donors, is the foremost charity in India that aids children who need care and protection. Since its inception in 2006 by Jithin Nedumala, Co-Founder and CEO, MAD’s distinctive Prosperity Model has worked with children from the age of 10 until they enter adulthood and settle down in life. Now in its sixteenth year, the model is primarily driven by pro-bono volunteers recruited from the top universities and corporations in India. Grants and crowdsourcing are both used as part of the organization’s revenue plan.
