A 21-year-old man along with two juveniles have been charged for the death of a Colorado teenager who died of gunshot wounds in Monte Vista while recording TikTok videos, according court filings and the authorities.
The teenager was killed when a Glock firearm went off while the two minors and the teenager were playing with it in a field. The teen was shot when the gun was either tossed to the victim or pointed at them and it fired, eye witness accounts from the affidavit state.
Emiliano Vargas, the 21-year-old in the case was charged with two counts each of providing a firearm to a juvenile, contributing to a minor’s delinquency and failing to secure a weapon. According to the affidavit, Vargas was not present when the shooting occurred.

An eyewitness present at the shooting said that the gun had been pointed at the teenager when it went off. “It could be an accident,” she told the police, according to NBC News.

Police found the gun in a position which made it seem like the gunshot was not self-inflicted. In addition, the police obtained the cellphone used to record the videos and found that the victims body was roughly close to where they had been shooting the TikTok videos.

The gun was taken from a shelf at home, where it was allegedly kept, and then someone took out the clip out the clip before giving it to the minor, according to an eyewitness who was present at Vargas’ home. The home where the gun was kept is the property of Vargas’ grandparents and of the two juveniles charged, one had permission to live there.

The gun was legally purchased and Vargas kept it unlocked but had allegedly told at least one of the minors that they were allowed to use it, the court document stated.
