The match was widely dubbed as a statistician’s dream as 22-year-old Mr Irrelevant, Brock Purdy took on Tom Brady whose NFL career, being in its 23rd year is older than the former. Purdy made news earlier in the season as he became the first Mr Irrelevant to complete a forward pass in NFL history.
Purdy has since then only risen from place to place as he became a regular starting quarter back for the 49ers. However, for the Brady who is at the fag-end of his illustrious career, things are not going the way they used to.

On Sunday he rushed of his first career touchdown in front of a visibly emotional family, as he added to the misery of the Buccaneers. Purdy threw two more touchdowns in the first half as the 49ers raced to a massive 28-0 lead at the end of the first half. The Buccaneers were unable to make any headway as Brady was intercepted twice.
The extraordinary start means that the 49ers are favourites to win the match and extend their lead over Seattle Seahawks at the top of NFC West division. On the other hand, the loss will narrow down the lead the Buccaneers have in NFC South over Atlanta Falcons.
