Andrew Tate, a former boxing champion, businessman, and social media personality, was arrested Thursday along with his brother in Romania on charges of human trafficking, rape and running and organised crime group.

Prosecutors confirmed Andrew and Tristan were among four detained over an ongoing investigation.

The former professional kickboxer, who was born in Washington, D.C., on December 1, 1986, is the son of white English catering assistant Eileen Ashleigh and the late black American chess player Emory Tate.

Who is Eileen Ashleigh Tate?

Eileen Ashleigh Tate, who is a British national, used to work as a dinner lady and some time as washing dishes, according to Follow Chain. She got married to Chicago-born American chess player Emory Andrew Tate Jr and had three children together – sons, Andrew and Tristan, and daughter Janine.

Her husband died in 2015 at the age of 56 after fainting during a competition, in Milpitas, California.

In a recent podcast, Andrew talked about his mother Eileen as he went on to say, “When I first started making money, I retired my mother. I called her up and said, look, because she was still a dinner lady, she was washing dishes and I said f that off.”

He added that he told his mother to quit the job: “Quit, I’ll triple your money. You stay home. And when I told people I did that, they go, you don’t think it’s weird that you look after your own mother? Like she’s a grown-up.”

Andrew further went on to say, “I usually saw my dad about once a year when he would visit and I remember one time they had a massive argument.”
