The South Indian actor has created an equally strong fan base by acting in Bollywood films as well. Besides being a superstar he is known for his simplicity. Vijay has proven his acting mettle in more than one film. Some of his best performances to date include:

Poove Unakkaga (1996)

Vijay earned his first commercial success with the blockbuster movie “Poove Unakkaga”, a family movie directed by Vikraman. The movie is cited as Vijay’s best performance. The story portrayed the effort of a young Vijay trying to unite a Hindu- Christian family. The film was remade in Hindi in 2002 as “Badhai ho Badhai”.

Ghilli (2004)

The movie depicts the lighter side of Vijay, which he rarely executes. The movie is an absolute visual treat from start to finish. The film had run in theatres for 200 days. The lightness in his character has boosted his image as he has done his share to make it a reality.

Nanban (2012)

The film is the remake of the Hindi movie by Rajkumar Hirani, 3 Idiots. The movie is believed to have something for everyone. Vijay’s role is as usual a treat for his fans. His character Pari was lauded by the audience as he has done justice to what Amir Khan took up.

Master (2021)

It crossed over Rs 250 crores at the box office. In the movie, Vijay has challenged his all previous roles and has finally let go and has come out of his cocoon of a man of traditions and has played the role of an alcoholic, which is unlikely of him. It’s a different Vijay movie that the director has presented to the audience.
