Master:

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Master’ was Vijay Thalapathy’s most-awaited movie. In the movie, Vijay played the role of a drunk professor and entertained everyone with his dance move. The movie released in the middle of the ongoing pandemic and earned over Rs 150 crore, according to FilmiBeat.

Thuppakki:

Directed by AR Murugodass, ‘Thuppakki’ was Vijay’s turning point in his career. In this movie, he played the role of an Indian army captain, who fought against terrorism. The movie earned Rs 130 crore profit at the box office. It was his first film to cross  Rs 100 core. The movie was later remade in Hindi starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role with the title ‘Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty’.

Kaththi:

Directed by AR Murugodass, ‘Kathhi’ was Vijay Thalapathy’s second collaboration with the director. The movie released in 2014 and saw Vijay in a dual role. The movie was about the issue of farmer’s suicide. ‘Kathhi’ also featured Samantha Akkineni and Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead roles.

Mersal:

Directed by Atlee, ‘Mersel’ is Vijay Thalapathy’s one of the biggest hits. In the movie, he played a triple role for the first time and the story was about brothers avenging their father’s death. In Malaysia, it earned Rs 20 crore and became the third biggest overseas hit after ‘Raees’ and ‘Bahubali 2’ in 2017.

Bigil:

Directed by Atlee, ‘Bigil’ was another collaboration between Vijay and director Atlee. The movie featured Vijay in a dual role as a gangster and a football coach of a women’s football team. As soon as the movie was released, he was praised for his work and was also compared to Shah Rukh Khan for his role in ‘Chak De India’. The movie did a profit of Rs 290 crore at the box office.
