The Peacemaker is Christopher Smith, a pacifist diplomat who becomes so dedicated to peace that he was willing to use force as a superhero to preserve it. He has a range of special non-lethal weapons. He also founded the Pax Institute.
The character was created by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette. It first appeared in Fightin’ 5 #40 (November 1966).

The Peacemaker possesses many abilities including the peak of human physical condition, body armor, flight pack, communications helmet, an expert in hand-to-hand combat, advanced military weapons, and skilled marksman.
Christopher Smith was born to Auggie Smith, a powerful and cunning small-town racist whose views deeply scarred his son. When he grew up, Christopher became a mentally unstable pacifist diplomat who grew so committed to peace.

The peacemaker is more than willing to fight, kill, and even start a war, but in the end, every action he takes is in the name of preserving the peace. Smith is obsessed with peace and liberty but his actions are violent and he loves death and destruction. He says that there is “nothing like a bloodbath to start the day.”

However, he is not beyond giving people he appreciates a warning before he attacks. He is also willing to humiliate himself for his cause, blindly follows orders, and condemned Bloodsport for killing for money.

He was recruited by Amanda Waller to join Task Force X. He was sent on a mission with Adrian Chase, the Vigilante, and the two formed a deep-seated rivalry and intense hatred for one another.
The Christopher Smith incarnation of Peacemaker made his cinematic debut in The Suicide Squad (2021), DC Extended Universe film. The character was portrayed by John Cena. He will reprise his role in an eponymous television series for HBO Max.
