Arvind Kejriwal launches missed call campaign after CBI raids Manish Sisodias home

Following a raid at Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s house on Friday morning, August 19, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a missed call campaign, urging citizens to join his ‘national mission’.

“To join our national mission to make India Number 1, please give missed call on 9510001000, let’s take India on the top,” the 54-year-old said in a video address.

“You give a missed call on this number and convince others to do it as well,” Kejriwal added on the video posted on Twitter.

The Delhi Chief Minister also urged supporters to not worry about the CBI raid at the residence of Manish Sisodia, saying there is no need to panic. He also asked everyone to let the investigating agency do their work because it allegedly has orders to ‘harass’ the AAP leadership.

“There is no need to panic over the CBI raid, let them do their work. They have orders from above to harass us,” he said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided 10 locations on Friday morning, including the residence of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, in connection with alleged irregularities in the state’s Excise Policy 2021-22. Delhi Lt. Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI probe into the matter in July, along with Sisodia, who also voiced his support for an investigation by the federal agency.

Kejriwal also accused the central government of targeting AAP leaders as a result of international recognition of their work. He was referring to a report in The New York Times regarding the public education system of Delhi, which was written by Emmy nominated journalist Karan Deep Singh and was published in the newspaper’s international edition on Thursday, August 18.

The Delhi CM launched the “Make India No 1” campaign earlier this week, saying if the nation wants to change its status to a developed country, it cannot be left to those in power currently. He also proposed a five-point plan which will ensure good governance and announced his plan to travel to the rest of the country to garner support for the cause.
