IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals must beat CSK to climb out of mid-table chaos

This season, the Delhi Capitals have defied several odds to be relevant in the IPL 2022. Their most recent challenge is to climb out of mid-table chaos and into the play-offs. They must first defeat the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

Delhi has a fantastic net run rate of 0.641, and if they can win a few of their remaining games, Rishabh Pant‘s club may just slip into the top four at the end of the group stage.

They are currently in fifth place with 10 points, but fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has 12 points. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are also playing on Sunday (against the Sunrisers Hyderabad), and if they lose, Delhi will have a decent chance to move into the top four.

Delhi may face a comparably relaxed opponent in Chennai. Delhi has been batting brilliantly this season, but Chennai has one of the weaker bowling assaults in the IPL. David Warner has been providing solid starts for Delhi, while Rovman Powell has been smashing sixes in the death overs. In the interim, Mitchell Marsh and Pant might dominate the bowlers in the middle overs.

Prithvi Shaw did not play in Delhi’s last game, but he is expected to be available on Sunday.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is working with an inexperienced bowling attack. While players like Mukesh Choudhary and Maheesh Theekshana have tried their hardest, the Chennai Super Kings’ bowling attack simply lacks venom. Their situation has been exacerbated by Dwayne Bravo‘s injury.

Chennai’s batters, on the other hand, have had some good outings both on and off the field.

If Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad get them off to a strong start, the likes of Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu could be able to face Delhi’s excellent bowling attack, which includes Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav.
