With only a few hours left for
Valentine’s Day, Twitter came up with a brilliant solution to the seemingly unending,
and at times annoying, Valentine’s Day posts on their platform in a move arguably to benefit single
netizens. While many of those who are together celebrating the day with great
celebration and pomp, it often is a problem for those who are single, and
understandably are troubled by the barrage of affection on social media.

No more will it likely be a problem
for them, however, as Twitter’s new feature lets users mute certain key words that
they can choose from a list of potential words related to love and Valentine’s
Day in general, tweeted out by Twitter’s official handle on Thursday.

The move unsurprisingly came as a good
news for millions of users, who visibly raked up the stats for the message, with
it reaching a high of 63,500 retweets and 2,77,700 likes.

The list include frequently used words such as ‘valentine’s day’, ‘soulmate’, ‘babe’ etc.

“Reminder that you can mute
words,” Twitter’s message read, acting basically as a cheeky reminder to
its users of what to do in case they feel lonely, while emanating interesting
reactions at the same time.

“Hence proved. The admin of this
account is also single like all of us”, read a user’s tweet, and it suffices to
say that the person in control of the account did not hold back.

“single and not looking tbh”, they
replied.

Another user tweeted “are you alright”,
seemingly worried about the moderator’s state, to receive the reply “going
through something”.

Regardless of whether this is a funny
poke at those together or the singles, rest assured, single netizens on Twitter
will be able to have a peaceful time this year, well, on social media at least.
