Cows are generally sociable and curious creatures. How often they interact with people, how they were reared, if they feel intimidated or scared, and whether they have something to protect all influence their conduct. Dairy cows who are milked frequently are far more accustomed to humans and are less prone to become irritated or scared. As a natural defence, a bull (male cow) is more prone to be hostile.
